Cat Moon, Director of Innovation Design for the Program in Law and Innovation (PoLI) at Vanderbilt Law School, shared her insights to creativity and innovation at a BYU Law Future of Law event.
“Innovation is an incredibly simple concept: change that creates value. …It’s not mystical or magical, but it’s powerful,” she said.
Moon stressed the importance of innovating by noting that the most productive workers are often the most creative. “The curious person is the person who moves a profession forward through change that creates value.” She encouraged students to listen more than they talk, ask questions, and be humble.
“If we want to encourage lawyers to be a part of legal innovation and moving our profession forward, then the first step is to train curious lawyers,” Moon said.
